How do I know if I need therapy?

Deciding whether or not you need counseling can be a personal decision, but there are some signs that might indicate it could be helpful:

1. Overwhelming Emotions: If you’re feeling consistently sad, anxious, or overwhelmed and these feelings are affecting your daily life, it might be a good idea to talk to someone.

2. Difficulty Coping: If you’re struggling to handle stress, work, or personal issues, and feel like you’re losing control, counseling can help you develop better coping mechanisms.

3. Relationship Issues: If you’re experiencing difficulties in relationships (whether with family, friends, or romantic partners), a counselor can provide guidance on communication, boundaries, and conflict resolution.

4. Traumatic Experiences: If you’ve gone through something traumatic, such as the loss of a loved one, abuse, or a major life change, counseling can help process those emotions and experiences.

5. Changes in Behavior: If you notice changes in your behavior, such as withdrawing from others, neglecting responsibilities, or engaging in self-destructive habits (like unhealthy eating or substance use), it may be time to seek professional support.

6. Lack of Fulfillment or Meaning: If you’re feeling stuck or unfulfilled in life, counseling can help clarify your goals, values, and priorities, and help you find direction.

7. Persistent Thoughts or Feelings: If you find that your thoughts or feelings are intrusive, persistent, or interfere with your ability to concentrate or enjoy life, a counselor can help you work through these challenges.

Remember, seeking counseling is a healthy step in taking care of your mental and emotional well-being, and it’s not a sign of weakness. It’s a way to gain support and perspective when you’re facing challenges.

Services Offered

Individual Counseling.

Together, we’ll explore your challenges, uncover the root causes of your struggles, and develop personalized strategies to you move forward with confidence.

The first couple sessions will be centered on sharing where you are at presently and what has led you to seek counseling.

I am a trauma-sensitive provider so I do not require you to share information you are not comfortable revealing.

Between your comfort level and my professional lens we decide on the frequency of sessions and a subsequent treatment plan. A treatment plan consists of your goals for therapy.

I blend a variety of therapeutic modalities. Most of my work is a combination of acceptance and commitment therapy, positive psychology, existential psychology, energy psychology, and cognitive processing.

Relationships can be hard work. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your connection, improve communication, or work through conflict, I am here to support both of you. I combine Gottman methods, emotionally focused therapy, positive psychology, and relational life therapy.

I start with a session where both of you are in attendance and we go over the current issue(s) bringing you both to counseling. After the initial appointment, I do individual sessions with each partner to get a more personal sense of each perspective.
